The Conjuring Trailer Analysis
The Conjuring Trailer Analysis
In this blog post I will be analysing the conjuring trailer, the conjuring is a horror film that created a lot of media attention all around the world. It was originally based upon a true story about a family that is haunted by a devilish spirit. It was well known that it was very successful in the cinemas and I for one know that when I watched it for the first time I knew that it was a scary film.
The trailer is a very good talking point for the film, from the opening scene of the trailer it is extremely clear that the genre of this film is going to be a horror. If I had just seen this trailer for the first time I would straight away be able to tell that this is a horror film, this is because of the fact that the opening scene is in black and white and straight away you can tell from the colours that there is going to be a dark gloomy feel to the story of this film. This is because the colour black connotes death and brings upon us a bad sort of feeling. We meet the two main characters straight from the opening scene, on the screen there are also a couple bits of information which give us the films website link so if we are interested in the film we then have the important information of where to go if we would like to find out more on the film or even if we wanted to know about the release of the film date. The opening clip that is in the trailer is off a couple that are ghost hunters, they are in a pitch black room and are detecting whether there are any spirits within the basement. The music in the background really creates a atmosphere within the trailer, a feeling that leaves you trembling at your knees because you can feel the tension building up and you have know idea what is going to come next. Typically as it is a horror there would be a loud noise which would be used in an attempt to make the audience jump, this is exactly what this trailer does. After the fright of the first clip it then switches to normal time as we see the Warrens, who are the ghost hunters, in front of a large crowd talking about their experiences with spirits. As an audience member I can clearly see that this film is not based in current time from the costumes of most of the characters it is clear that this film is based between the 1940's - 1960's. The trailer starts of from the first 30 seconds with some happy family sort of music which creates a more happy feeling but as we start to get further in the trailer and we see the devil that is in the story the background music changes massively and becomes a high pitch screeching noise which is a general stereotype for horror films like this one.
