In our film there is a lot of representation to other films in our genre. Our film this year is an action film based on a kidnapping that takes place in exchange for some money. A similar film that is the same genre as ours is Taken which stars Liam Neeson. In that film his daughter is abducted and he must fight his way to try and find her. This is similar to our film as in ours someone is abducted but instead of having to fight to be able to find them a call is made by the rich businessman who abducted the brother and a deal is made with a sum of money that has to be exchanged so that the brother can be set free. So with the overall story line we have conformed to the general stereotypes of films that have abduction in them. We have done this by including different stereotypes such as the abduction in the car, exchange of money and also at the end when there is a final fight between the main character and the villain to get back the person who has been abducted. At the end of our trailer there is an intense scene when Callum storms into the room where his brother is being held hostage. He then holds up a gun and points it and the camera and the trailer is then ended there. This means that the trailer ends on a cliffhanger which in result leaves the audience on the edge of their seats. This is exactly what happens in the trailer for Taken which shows that our trailer conforms with the general stereotypes of action films.

In this section I will be talking about the representation of our film towards similar films in our genre. As you can see to the left of this text are a couple of screen grabs. One is from our film trailer and the other is from the trailer of Taken staring Liam Neeson. As you can see both pictures are very similar. Both include a bit of action as you can see with the gun being held up with firm action. This shows clearly that both films are action and this is how our film conforms to the general stereotypes of an action film. However there is a notable difference. In the screenshot from Taken Liam Neeson who is the protagonist is holding the gun himself and pointing it at someone so he is control. Compared to our screenshot from our trailer where Callum who is our protagonist is having the gun held up to his head showing that he is not in control in anyway. This shows how our films could be a bit similar but also have a different narrative.
